I photograph women who run their own business, and the places and objects they love, with patience and natural light.
Most women tell me they dread being photographed. I plan for that: we talk first, plan everything in advance and I guide every pose, so you can stop performing.

How a session unfolds.

30 minutes
Consultation
A relaxed call about what you are building or celebrating, and how you would like your portraits to feel. You can tell me what makes you nervous. Most people do.

1 week before
Styling call
We plan what to wear, where to shoot and the frames you need. You receive a short guide, so the day holds no surprises.

Half or full day
The session
Everything is planned, so the day runs smoothly and on time. I guide every pose, so you never need to know what to do. All you need to do is arrive.

2 weeks later
The reveal
We look through your gallery together and choose the portraits you will use and treasure for years. Prices are clear before you arrive, and there is never any pressure.

Within 3 weeks
Delivery
Your gently retouched gallery arrives online, and your prints come in a linen box with a handwritten card.
In 3 years running Duo Property Stylers, we have never had any professional photos taken and our own awkward attempts to take photos of ourselves on our phones have never worked out very well! Marika immediately put us at ease and delivered a set of high-quality, professional photos.

What to expect
Your questions, answered.
I really do not like being photographed. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Most of my clients say the same on our first call. I guide every pose, so you never need to know what to do, and within minutes most people forget the camera is there.
Is it self-indulgent to book a session just for me?
Many women ask me this, usually after years of being the one behind the camera. A portrait session is a way to celebrate where you are now, and to leave something lasting for the people who love you.
What does a session cost?
Every session has a clear starting price, with retouching and usage included and no hidden per-image costs. You will know the full investment before we meet, so our call can be about fit rather than figures.
What should I wear?
We plan this together on the styling call. You will receive a short wardrobe guide, and for The Portrait Experience there is a studio wardrobe to borrow from. Bring more than you need and we will choose together.
Will I still look like me?
Yes. Make-up is natural and retouching is gentle: skin, stray hairs and anything temporary. You will look like yourself on a good day, never like someone else.
Where do sessions take place?
In a studio, at your home or workplace, or at a location that suits your work. I travel across Scotland.
Can I give a session as a gift?
Yes. Gift vouchers for The Portrait Experience come as a printed card or by email and are valid for twelve months. The person you are treating chooses her own date.
